Lipstick why blot

Apparently, I am not the only one, since lots of makeup brands are releasing lip products to recreate this exact kind of look. Those products are generally labeled as matte lip stains, but all you need to do is style those edges with some smudge-action and you're in business. If imprecise makeup and not using a lip liner gives you hives, maybe pick another adventure.

Puckey, who calls this a "blurred lip stain," has a few of his own techniques for creating this effect:. With Utensils: "Apply your lipstick with a fluffy brush like the M. C and buff the color into your lips applying a lighter pressure by your lip line. The fluffy texture of the brush gives a diffused look to your lip color application. Finger-painting: "Apply a lipstick from the bullet to the center of your lips, fade the color out with your finger to the edge of your lips and then use a [cotton bud] to fade the edges.

If you're down to get a bit blurry, but don't have time to use things like "tools" and "techniques," here are some lip products that are specifically engineered to give you this blurred lip stain look all on their own. And that's pretty accurate. The best thing about this guy is that it wears like a balm so it's comfortable like your favorite jeans are comfortable.

Or paper towel. Or a Post-it I'm sure it happens. Some blot on the back of a hand you know who you are. But there's something better.

For your best lipstick finish, start with the sketch-with-lip-liner thing. Really, the answer is actually this easy: switch out your tissue for paper. The paper just absorbs the oils in the lip product better without compromising your application.

Instead of blotting by placing the paper in your mouth, give the paper a smooch so that any extra lipstick can be blotted off more evenly. Sometimes I do this a couple times to really help set the color into my lips. Pro tip: If I want a long-lasting finish, then I will reapply and blot one more time to really make sure the pigment is as blended into my lips as possible. I have a bad habit of grabbing notebooks, receipts, business cards… really any piece of paper that I can find on hand to blot my lips.

You should keep a little tiny notebook in your makeup bag for this. Otherwise, you can use a clear lip liner which is specifically designed for anti-feathering. Teeth: One of the most embarrassing things, as a women, is finding out that you have lipstick on your teeth. This is where the old Hollywood tip comes into play. After you've applied your lip color, take your index finger and place it in your mouth and pull it out slowly. Any lipstick that would have ended up on your teeth will be on your finger instead. Powder: Lip gloss can cause your lip color to come off quicker due to it's formula which often contains oils and can break up your lip color.

So ditch the gloss and instead take one-ply tissue, hold it over your lips and dust a bit of translucent powder over it with a fluffy blending eye brush to keep it in place. Touch Ups: If you still find your needing to touch up your lip color, it's best to start from scratch, otherwise your lip color can end up looking uneven, cakey and messy -- which no one wants.
